We are excited to welcome our students back to campus! Like many schools around the nation, we have faced complex decisions while planning a school year through the lens of a global pandemic. Our response has been to pull together, keep our doors open, and provide in-person learning for the majority of the 2020-2021 year. This has required persistence, flexibility, and creativity on the part of our staff to provide a safe, secure, and meaningful semester.
Our family atmosphere continues strong while campus life has been adapted to accommodate safety guidelines. Social distancing, face coverings, plexiglass guards and frequent cleaning are the new norm. Our academic calendar has adjusted slightly so that after Thanksgiving Break students will transition to online learning for the last two and a half weeks of the fall semester.
Summit is a unique Bible school operating within a year like no other. Our uniqueness is book-ended by two principles; the first is our unplugged environment and the second is our emphasis on students developing a devotional life while studying the Bible. Many students and alumni say their time at Summit was transformative. I believe this year will be no different.
The Scriptures state in Proverbs 22:3 that “a prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions.” This is a word in season to us. There is another verse, found in Proverbs 28:1 that says “the righteous are as bold as a lions.” Combined, these two verses describe our mandate of pressing on as we make both practical and spiritual preparations for this season.
We look forward to seeing new students arrive, seniors return, and hope our supporters are encouraged. Summit is open and God-dependent as we embrace this unique year. Support us and join us in prayer as we continue forward for the glory of God and the souls of men and women.
Dr. Teresa Conlon President of Summit
